More OKC

So, posting directly from my phone wasn't working like I wanted. Instead I emailed the photos to myself and now will attempt to post them here for you. :)

Never knew there was a way to buy the colors separate or that there were so many!

Really? I thought we would dump out the chips and just heat the bag.

As you can obviously see, I've not yet mastered pasting photos into the blog so they are aesthetically pleasing. Feel free to offer advice!

Oklahoma City!

Carrie, Jennifer and Martie were able to work this convention together and we had a great time! We didn't meet our goal - there seemed to not be quite as much traffic through the convention as last year - but we did okay.

We arrived within moments of each other and were starving. We checked in to the hotel but our rooms weren't quite ready so headed on over to Zio's for lunch. YUM! But it was noisy in there even at two in the afternoon just due to all the hard surfaces. Also, the waiter was very nice and attentive but sometimes you want to just talk to who you are sitting with and not have quite so much conversation with your server. ;)

We went on to the convention center to set up our booth. We were circling the area to find parking and spotted the cupcake place Carrie and I had wanted to visit last year. So we pulled in and walked through the Pinkitzel Candy and Cupcake store. Wow! Pretty cool! And so we had delicious cupcakes for a snack! Then we headed on over to set up our booth.

Blooms Books participates in this convention so we connected with Jan and Gary and made dinner plans. Once we completed our set up we walked a few blocks to find the BBQ restaurant we were meeting at. Earl's Rib Palace has several locations. We ate at the one in Brick Town and the walk over was interesting. Part of it was beside the river which was beautiful and breezy. At one point we saw a boat load of people going through this canal area between the buildings.

Dinner was delicious and we started with the Elvis Fries which was a secret menu item idea we got from Four Square. Yummy except that hot link was spicy hot! That appetizer was more than enough for the 5 of us! I got the loaded baked potato with pulled pork on it. Delicious!

After dinner we all made the walk back and we dropped Jan and Gary at the place they were staying for the weekend. They said it was an adventure. From the sounds of it, I think that was a proper name. ;)

Friday we were off and running so to speak. They opened the doors a bit early and the orders slowly started coming in. We talked again to lots of people who were new and trying to figure out what might possibly work for their children.

Those convention halls are quite noisy, especially when everything is concrete with very little buffer the noise. We called in an order to On The Border and took it to the hotel. We sat around a table downstairs for a couple of hours maybe chatting and snacking. Saturday night, for the same reasons (we needed some what of a quiet place AND it was Cinco de Mayo) we chose to do the same thing, including a walk across the street for our Cupcakes from Pinkitzel for dessert

Carrie and Martie decided to go for a walk in the cool breeze after they stepped out to see the Super Moon. We didn't see it at it's largest and prettiest but it was still gorgeous. Our walk was a good little ways and nice beside the river. We could have walked all the way in to OKC I think but, we did have to get back. We joked about walking in the next morning at 7:30 when we should be getting up and ready for our flights home.

I'll try to post some pictures from my phone - if I can figure that out - and the others can post the experience from THEIR point of view. ;)
